Through its management, employees, and contractors, Nor-Alta exercises all reasonable efforts to ensure that all work environments owned or operated by Nor-Alta are as hazard-free as possible, and that all Nor-Alta personnel practice safe work habits at all times.
The success and continued commitment to Nor-Alta's Safety Program is evidenced by its attainment of a Certificate of Recognition (large employer) for its Safety Program through ENFORM as its Certifying Partner. Nor-Alta also currently has two certified COR (Certificate of Recognition) auditors on staff.
In order to effectively facilitate this commitment, Nor-Alta exercises a number of ongoing practices. For example, Nor-Alta employs a full-time Health and Safety Coordinator. Their responsibilities include administrating, maintaining and evaluating the safety program, safety orientation, safety spot checks, and safety data compilation. Ongoing safety reminders and practices are also emphasized on a regular basis.
All personnel must attend a one-on-one General Safety Orientation with the Safety Coordinator prior to commencement of work with Nor-Alta. In addition, all technicians are orientated prior to each job for job-specific standard operating procedures and relevant safety issues by the operations manager.
Technicians are required to have Safety certification in the following areas: H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG and the Petroleum Safety Training course (PST). Light Vehicle Driver Improvement Course is also strongly recommended and in certain instances, mandatory. ATV training courses are also recommended for field staff. Nor-Alta holds safety meetings on a monthly basis and on-site meetings (tailgate meetings) between the Nor-Alta site supervisor and field Technicians are held prior to each job. The safety orientation package is updated yearly and distributed to all employees and contractors.
Employees are responsible for compliance with all of Nor-Alta Environmental Services Ltd. corporate policies, procedures, practices and laws applicable to their assigned responsibilities and duties.
