Job Posting – Biologist

Nor-Alta is currently searching for a Biologist to join our growing team and assume a leadership position in the field and office, conducting various site assessments including wildlife surveys and wetland assessments.  The successful candidate will be eligible for a Professional Biologist designation and have prior experience conducting wildlife surveys.

The primary responsibilities of this position will include project management, technical expertise, mentorship of junior staff, communication of work plans and budgets with clients and project personnel, as well as account management, and client support.

All applicants should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate leadership qualities, and possess the ability to work well alone as well as in a team environment.

This position will include a combination of office and field work and will be based out of Edmonton, Alberta.

Job Posting – Environmental Scientist/Field Technician

Job Description:

The successful applicants will be responsible for providing field services to our clients for a variety of drilling waste jobs and projects, with some exposure to reclamation and remediation as well.

Required Skills: 

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing necessary field work. Must be willing to travel.
  • Compiling disposal reports
  • Developing strong relationships with clients and potential clients
  • Diligently representing Nor-Alta Environmental Services Ltd. in communications with clients, landowners, and regulators
  • Maintaining  a thorough understanding of applicable drilling waste regulations
  • Applicants must be capable and willing to perform manual labor

Required Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong working knowledge of computers and relevant software (Microsoft Office)
  • A strong working knowledge of industry standard technology (GPS, Digital Cameras, etc.)
  • Knowledge of applicable drilling waste regulations (Directive 050, Draft Directive 050, etc.)
  • A Class 5 Driver’s license is required
  • Must be eligible for registration with Alberta Institute of Agrologists
  • Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience through previous work or school
  • Post-Secondary education will be considered a valuable asset
