Safety Certifications

We have a Certificate of Recognition (large employer) for our Safety Program with ENFORM as our Certifying Partner. One certified COR (Certificate of Recognition) auditor is on staff.

Policies and Procedures

Strong policies and procedures are in place to meet or exceed legislative requirements set out by the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.

Full-time Health and Safety Coordinator

This dedicated position is responsible for: administrating, maintaining and evaluating Nor-Alta’s safety program, safety orientation, safety spot checks, and safety data compilation. Ongoing safety reminders and practices are also emphasized on a regular basis.

General Safety Orientation

All personnel must attend a one-on-one General Health and Safety Orientation with the Safety Coordinator prior to commencement of work with Nor-Alta. In addition, all technicians are orientated prior to each job for job-specific standard operating procedures and relevant safety issues by the project manager.

Required Certifications

Technicians are required to have Safety certification in the following areas: H2S Alive, First Aid, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and the Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST). Light Vehicle Driver Improvement Course is also strongly recommended and in certain instances, mandatory. ATV training courses are also recommended for field staff.

Regular Meetings and Updates

Nor-Alta holds safety meetings on a monthly basis to address the Health and Safety of company operations, allowing open communication between all levels of employees, which provides an opportunity for improvement. On-site tailgate meetings are conducted between the Nor-Alta Site Supervisor, Nor-Alta Technicians, and all others working onsite with Nor-Alta prior to commencing work.

Nor-Alta encourages all personnel to promote Health and Safety excellence both at work and at home. All levels within the company are involved in the continuous improvement of our Health and Safety program and current work place policies in order to assist in the protection of all personnel.
